World Scout Jamboree Funding & Applicaitons
We are happy to confirm funding support for young people selected to attend the 25th World Scout Jamboree in Korea.
The total cost of the event in £3,900 towards this cost Brent District Scout Council will contribute:
£1,000 to all participants from Brent District
Up to an additional £1,000 matched against fundraising done by the participant.
Fundraising events are organised with the participant Unit with both the County and District; local fundraising opportunities are at our District Swimming Gala, St. Georges Day Awards, etc.
In previous year participants have been able to fundraise all the remainder of the cost of the event.
Hardship Fund
In addition we have amended the rules of the hardship fund to increase the maximum to £1,000 for a World Scout Jamboree participant.
Any member (both youth member and volunteer) of The Brent Scout District with a particular financial need can apply; (financial need is defined as the difference between what it costs to attend and what the applicant can afford to pay). All applicants will be considered. Below is a list of cases which may lead to circumstances where support may be given.
Young Carers
Child/ Young Person in care
Recent death of Parent (within 12 months)
Convalescence after illness
In receipt of Free School Meals (except those in lower primary years)
Pupil premium funding
Physical/mental health issues (applicants own)
Recent redundancy (of applicant or next of kin, within 12 months)
In receipt of state pension
In receipt of benefits
Young person in Part Time work (less time to fundraise)
Young person in need of additional support in the form of a carer whilst abroad.
In combination, the direct support, hardship fund and fundraising will enable young people to attend take part in this once in a lifetime scouting opportunity at no cost to the family.
