We are setting up a Kayaking course on Saturday 22nd May
Times 0930 to 1630 (Including an hour for lunch, bring a packed lunch)
Cost: £24.00 per person (the first 15 people to book will qualify for a place on the course) Leaders / Explorer Scouts)

At the end of the course all successful Explorers will achieve the DISCOVERY AWARD, introduction to kayaking
The course will include the following
Identify different types of paddle craft.
Name three places you could safely go canoeing or kayaking.
Take part in a warmup activity to prepare you for canoeing or kayaking.
You could practice balancing whilst kneeling, getting in and out of a boat or practising a paddling action.
Dress properly for your chosen activity.
Show you know the importance of buoyancy aids and how to put one on correctly.
Take part in a taster session that covers:
Naming equipment used and the parts of the boat.
Getting into and out of a boat safely.
Balancing a boat.
Manoeuvring your boat in different directions, including moving forward.
This course has been set up for members and Leaders of Nomad ESU, however if we cannot fill all 15 places on the course then we will be opening it up to members of Pioneer ESU, so Please be aware of this as I'm sure that we will have two or three spaces available for Pioneer members / Leaders to sign up.
Everyone that completes the days course will have earned the Explorer Paddle sports level 1 award as well as the British Canoe Union Discovery award.
