7th Wembley Scout Group Launches Beaver Scout Challenge

The 7th Wembley Scout Group is excited to announce a new Beaver Scout Challenge starting Monday, 23rd January 2023. The six-week challenge is a fun-packed program of games and learning, with the Beavers working towards their level one First Aid badge, delivered by the group's dedicated volunteers.

The highlight of the challenge will be the adventure day at the PACCAR Scout Camp, where the Beavers can enjoy various fun activities. At the end of the challenge, the Beavers will be presented with their certificates, and the new unit will be opened, offering a place to all those who took part in the challenge, subject to having enough volunteers.

Brent District has seen significant growth recently, with the number of members increasing by 35% compared to our pre-pandemic membership. The District is also known for its diversity and inclusivity, with one of the most diverse memberships in the UK, representing a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and faiths. The 7th Wembley Scout Group is proud to be a part of this growth and diversity and is looking forward to welcoming young people from all backgrounds to the challenge and the new unit.

"I am excited to be part of this new initiative and to be able to offer this opportunity to the children in our community," said Sagar, the new Group Scout Leader of the 7th Wembley Scout Group. "As a new volunteer, I am looking forward to learning and growing with the Scouts and to be part of a team that is dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of young people."

David, District Commissioner, added: "The 7th Wembley Scout Group has made a great impact in the community since its inception in June 2022, and we are thrilled to see them expand to include a Beaver Scout Colony. The Beaver Scout Challenge is an excellent opportunity for young children to learn new skills and have fun in a safe and inclusive environment. We are proud to support the 7th Wembley Scout Group in their efforts to make a positive impact in the community."

The 7th Wembley Scout Group is a new group with a Cub Pack that meets on Friday nights; they are based at The Church of the Annunciation on Windermere Avenue. The Group is also planning to open a Scout Troop in April 2023, providing another opportunity for young people to learn and grow in the scouting movement. The Group is looking for parents to volunteer to be part of the Leadership Team to support the challenge, the new unit and the new Troop.

The Scout Programme is designed for young people aged 4-18 and is split into sections, including Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, and Scouts.

Beaver Scouts is the entry-level section for children aged 6-7. It provides a safe, fun-filled environment for children to learn and grow. The program includes outdoor activities, games, badges, and laughter, all of which help children develop essential life skills.

Cub Scouts is the second section for children aged 8-10½ years old. The program includes a wide range of fun and educational activities. Cub Scouts learn about the outdoors, participate in creative activities, and learn new skills through games and teamwork. They also work towards badges and awards, which help them develop self-confidence and character.

Scouts is the third section for young people aged 10½-14 years old. The program provides a challenging and adventurous experience that helps young people develop life skills and independence. Scouts learn about leadership, teamwork, and problem-solving while having fun and making new friends. They also work towards badges and awards, which help them develop self-confidence and character.

The Scout Programme is designed to be inclusive and accessible to all young people, regardless of their background or abilities. The program is also designed to help young people develop a sense of responsibility, self-reliance, and community spirit, which are essential life skills.
